The Met Gala ball which traditionally holds every first Monday in May, is back on schedule this year. While the event could not be held in 2020, it was postponed to September in 2021 due to the pandemic restrictions. Following the return of the 2021 Met Gala red carpet in September, this year’s attendees are celebrating the opening of the second installment of Costume Institute’s “In America: An Anthology Of Fashion” exhibit. The two-part show, on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art until September 2022, concludes with an exploration of 19th- and 20th-century fashion through the “sartorial narratives that relate to the complex and layered histories” of the United States.
Thanks to the night’s theme, “Gilded Glamour,” celebs, designers, and beauticians were able to flex their fashion history muscles in a glorious display of sparkles and glamour. To be considered one of the best dressed on fashion’s biggest night is quite the honor. Not only for the celebrity dishing the extravagant look on the red carpet but for the designer, beautician and entire team behind it. Kim Kardashian rocked the same gold shimmering gown Marilyn Monroe wore for her performance of “Happy Birthday Mr. President” for President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden on May 19, 1962. The 60-year-old dress is a stunning skin tight gown adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals, created by by Jean Louis based on a sketch by storied designer Bob Mackie.
She told Vogue, “The idea really came to me after the gala in September last year. I thought to myself, what would I have done for the American theme if it had not been the Balenciaga look? What’s the most American thing you can think of? And that’s Marilyn Monroe.”
Billie Eilish looked like she stepped directly out of Bridgerton as she channelled a throwback vibe with her outfit at the Met Gala. The singer wore a stunning a pale green and cream Gucci gown with ace shoulders and a hairdo that completely complimented the look. Every part of the dress was made from “already existing materials” she said, nodding to its eco-friendly design. This is quite a change from the baggy hoodies which formed her signature look that everyone is used to.
Nicki Minaj, who objected to the vaccination requirement at last year’s Met Gala, was there this year, and she’s having a baseball cap meets headband moment. The rapper’s black feathered ballgown was designed by Burberry’s Ricardo Tisci and topped off with a black baseball cap while her entire face and body were covered in circular jewels.

NFL star Odell Beckham Jr was among the men who stood out on the night largely due to accessorising their outfits with some stunning jewellery. His neck chains and rings complemented a beautiful green gown.
Also standing out in a rain of accessories, Yahya Abdul-Mateen’s black satin tuxedo by Thom Browne was topped off with gold-and-black floral embellishments on the jacket.
After skipping the event last year due to her second pregnancy, The Kardashians star made a stunning appearance this year. Kylie Jenner made heads turn with her high-fashion, bridal look at the Met Gala 2022. The mother of two looked absolutely stunning in a massive white gown paired with a veil-covered baseball hat.
Gigi Hadid showed up wearing an all-red Versace skintight latex catsuit and corset for her amazing Met Gala look this year. She was also seen adding more drama to her look by wearing a massive red coat that trailed behind her over it. Considering this year’s theme is Gilded Glamour, she understood exactly what it should look like.
Stormzy represented the UK at his first ever Met Gala, telling reporters he was “nervous” about his red carpet debut. The rapper wore an all-white Burberry three-piece wool suit with satin lapels and a matching white cape, designed by Riccardo Tisci – a departure from his usual look.
“Usually I wear all black a lot of the time, so it’s nice to shine today,” he said.

Megan looked nothing short of a goddess on Met Gala red carpet for the fashion extravaganza. as gold slid down her body in sequins and beads. It clung to her curves except where revealing cutouts swooped along her ribs, waist and thighs. Strapless with a train, the gown was designed by Jeremy Scott, the creative director of Moschino.
Squid Game star Jung Ho Yeon attends Met Gala
Squid Game star Jung Ho Yeon made her Met Gala debut this year. The South Korean actress and model made a stunning appearance as she wore a cutout mini-dress and slick brown boots by Louis Vuitton for the fashionable evening.
Gwen Stefani was possibly got her inspiration from Beyonce, who recently performed at the Oscars on a tennis court, with a swarm of dancers all dressed in neon yellow.
“Vera [Wang, the designer] called me to see if I wanted to come and be her date and of course I wanted to,” Stefani explained. “The thing is, she did my wedding dress, I got married this year so I just felt like it was appropriate that I come to the ball and celebrate that… and all of the sudden we’re in neon!”
Theater producer Jordan Roth appeared on the red carpet for the Met Gala in an all-black gothy look that turned heads and stole the show. He dazzled on the red carpet in a suitably theatric Thom Browne coat that later transformed to form part of his skirt.
Alicia Keys has sang about her home city, New York many times in the past in songs like Empire State of Mind and Streets of New York, so it’s only proper that she also made a statement with her oufit. Her shimmering black-and-silver Ralph Lauren gown saw a silhouette of the entire NY city skyline displayed on its black cape.
